sara and rich...

Rich and I were in our thirties when we met. I had just started work as a family doctor and he was well-established as a research scientist. We had concentrated on our careers, and we were now ready to find life partners.

For me it was love at first sight. A year later we were married and within another eighteen months we were the proud parents of a son and a daughter. Those early days felt like a whirlwind as we settled into doing the work we both loved and raised our family in Seattle.

In some ways we just slipped into the next phase of our life. I had been coming to the Key Peninsula with my family since I was eight, my parents had retired here, and when our own kids were young, we bought a place nearby where we could spend weekends.

When it came time to retire, we decided to build our dream house on the Key Peninsula and move.

What a revelation the last few years have been. We discovered that this almost island of a place is filled with beautiful nooks and crannies, tree-lined roads to explore, and waters to kayak. And we also discovered a rich and welcoming community of friends and organizations that feeds our souls.
